On October 28, 2026, an eight-year-old Class 3 boy subjected a six-year-old kindergarten girl with special needs to a prolonged and violent assault inside Sanskriti Model School also identified as Shaheed Major Anuj Rajput Government Model Sanskriti Senior Secondary School in Sector 20, Panchkula, Haryana.

The attack left the girl critically injured. She was later stabilized after treatment at PGIMER in Chandigarh.

According to multiple reports and circulating CCTV footage, the boy took the girl to an empty classroom, in some accounts on the pretext that her father was waiting upstairs.

He grabbed her by the hair and repeatedly slammed her head against a desk. After she fell, he kicked her, dragged her across the floor, and struck her repeatedly with stones or a brick and a flowerpot and in some descriptions an aluminum dustbin.

The assault continued even after the girl lost consciousness; footage reportedly shows further blows, including to the head and face, and continued dragging.

The school did not immediately detect the incident. Family members discovered the injured girl after school hours—some accounts say the boy himself later pointed her out to arriving parents, saying words to the effect of “Your daughter is lying here.”

She was first taken to Civil Hospital in Sector 6, Panchkula, for initial treatment and then referred to the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh because of her critical condition. Reports indicate she is now stable.

Police confirmed the ages of both children. DCP (Crime) Amrinder Singh stated that the eight-year-old boy is undergoing a medical assessment, standard procedure for children aged 7–12 in such cases, further action will depend on the findings.

Investigators are also examining school supervision and questioning the management about how two young children were left unsupervised in an empty classroom long enough for the attack to occur and go unnoticed.

Family members of the victim have said the boy had a history of aggressive behaviour, including prior complaints such as hitting dogs.

One relative alleged the attack followed the girl telling the boy she would complain to teachers. The precise trigger remains under investigation.

The incident has prompted widespread concern over safety and supervision in schools, particularly for younger and special-needs children.

Police teams, including Sector 20 SHO Yashdeep and investigating officer Pradeep Kumar, have visited the school and begun formal inquiries into both the assault and possible lapses in oversight.

The girl’s recovery continues under medical care. Authorities have not released the identities of the children, in line with legal protections for minors.

The case underscores ongoing questions about monitoring, teacher availability, and the handling of behavioural issues among young students.
